Topics to be covered include General Building Design in typical biopharmaceutical plants. It includes the review of critical support systems such as water systems, utilities, process control systems and external environment effects. In biotechnology it emphasizes production of biological molecules using bioreactors for cell culture technologies (bacterial and mammalian cells), sterile operations, monitoring techniques for proper cell growth during fermentation, CIP and SIP systems for bioreactors and other tanks, and other related topics such as the basis of Preventive Maintenance and documentation requirements for proper process control.
