WATER TREATMENT PLANTS

This program is specifically designed to prepare students for key roles in the treatment of drinking water for human consumption, as well as the industrial processes involved in producing water for injection within the biopharmaceutical industry and the proper handling of wastewater prior to its release into the environment.  Students will develop a solid foundation in the essential sciences of biology, microbiology, and chemistry. The curriculum delves into water ecosystems and guides learners through the various stages of water processing, including pretreatment, filtration, disinfection, and softening. Additionally, the program covers critical procedures such as sampling, analysis, and the management of sewage sludges. Emphasis is placed on both biological and chemical methods for treating wastewater and understanding its biotransformation. Regulatory aspects relevant to the field are also addressed throughout the coursework.
