WTSP774: Biological and Chemical Treatment of Wastewater. 

This course focuses on the fundamental aspects of wastewater treatment, emphasizing both biological and chemical methods. Students will learn about the properties and chemical structure of water, as well as the microorganisms that inhabit various aquatic ecosystems. The curriculum provides a thorough examination of water quality indicators, including physical, chemical, and biological parameters. These metrics are essential for evaluating the condition of water and the effectiveness of treatment processes. Students will explore the use of biological and chemical approaches for treating wastewater. The course covers the operation of treatment plants and the application of bioreactors designed to remove key eutrophic parameters, such as nitrogenous compounds, phosphates, and organic carbon.
