Environmental Sample Collection and Handling

MIUS636: Environmental Sample Collection and Handling. This course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills related to the collection and handling of environmental samples. The curriculum addresses key areas in microbiology, chemistry, and environmental crime, as well as the collection of criminal evidence.  Students will learn about the methodologies and best practices for sampling in the fields of microbiology and chemistry. Emphasis is placed on understanding the importance of proper sample collection to ensure accurate and reliable results in laboratory analysis. The course covers techniques for sampling in the context of environmental crime investigations. Participants will be introduced to the protocols for collecting criminal evidence from environmental sources, highlighting the role of proper sample handling in legal and forensic settings.  A variety of techniques and equipment used in environmental sample collection are explored. The instruction focuses on the practical application of these tools and methods to different scenarios, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in the field.
