ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TECHNICIAN

The Program provides the knowledge and skills to work in environmental protection. The students will obtain knowledge of environmental protection, taking into consideration plants, animals, soil conservation, air, and aquatic systems. The students will gain hands with training in environmental sampling, chemical and microbiological analyses, in different environmental conditions. In addition will get training to investigate discharges, dispersion of toxic substances and basic transformations in water, solid waste, and air pollution.

The technician can work in government laboratories, private industry and the federal government if required. Some of the functions that he may perform will be evaluation of environments and external factors that affect the ecosystem, including pollution control, hazardous waste, health protection. He will be able to collect data and perform wildlife analysis on animals, soil conservation, air, and aquatic systems. He will have knowledge of environmental monitoring, chemical and microbiological analysis, basic recognition of pests, to be determined in the study area and interpretation of the analysis.

Educational Format

The format of the IBI diploma programs consists of 3 semesters of 16 weeks.
Requirements: Have completed High School or a higher degree.
