ENVIRONMENTAL FORENSIC TECHNICIANS

Environmental forensics deals with investigation and application of scientific techniques to identify the sources of contaminants in plants, animals, soil, and water resources, with hazardous waste and its bio-transformations. The program in addition deals with hazardous chemical compounds, forensic toxicology, management of endangered threatened and sensitive species, transport, and dispersion of chemical substances in soil, water, and air. The program covers personal safety, environmental law, and preparation to testify in court. The Environmental Forensic Investigation Technician program is aimed at preparing a
technician who can assess the criminal impact on the environmental scene. The Program comprises two components i) recognition, collection, identification, and examination of criminal physical evidence from the crime scene taking into consideration the flora and fauna, soil, water, and air, ii) uses the principles of scientific nature to explain and interpret evidence in legal proceedings.

The environmental forensic investigation technician will be prepared to work with state, federal and consulting agencies that require evaluation of environmental crimes such as i) recognition, collection, identification and examination of criminal physical evidence from the environmental crime scene, taking into consideration the damage to flora, fauna, soil, water and air, ii) uses scientific principles to explain and interpret the evidence in legal proceedings when contamination by hazardous waste to bodies of water, soil, air and irreversible damage to plants and animals occurs negligently animals.
